Project Description

The aim of this project is to develop a device that enhances communication while individuals separated by distance engage in cooking activities. When you miss the taste of home, but don’t know how to replicate it, or just want to casually call your loved ones and show them what you cook, Kitcall will come in to help. It is designed to fit in the kitchen context while utilising digital technology.

The device offers hands-free far distance communication with a remote controllable camera and laser pointer, allowing users to show instructions on the cooking top. The way to use it is very simple: Just put it on your shoulder and start the call! The one who receives the call will be able to to view your cooking process from your shoulder as if they were standing behind to watch or help you. The watcher can use the remote controllable features on the design to guide you from afar.

The device consists of two parts, a magnetic clipper to clip onto your shirt and sit underneath the shirt. This is attached to the lightweight device on the user's shoulder on the outer side. The device's casing is made of polycarbonate with an antimicrobial and hydrophobic coating for durability and hygiene. The clipper will be over-moulded with FKM on the underside to ensure comfort during use and prevent dirt.
