Time Will Tell

Time Will Tell side-table

Project Description

A growing trend in the furniture industry is towards ‘fast furniture’, where large companies mass-produce cheap products using low-quality materials that are not durable and are difficult to maintain, repair and recycle. This results in consumers purchasing their products without the expectation that pieces will last, creating a lack of minimal emotional investment in modern furniture items.

Time Will Tell is a side-table designed to age gracefully and with dignity over the course of its life. Through deliberate material choices, this side-table utilises the patina qualities of timber, leather, and cork to create a product that will improve with use and tangibly reflect the narrative and history of the relationship between the user and the object.

Time Will Tell offers a range of solutions to the problems created through fast furniture, with every component of the table being composed of a single material, allowing for easy individual part replacement and recycling of each material. Time Will Tell still retains the advantages of being flat packed with tool-free assembly, using only wood joins and brass-plated snap fasteners as the primary attachment methods. Multiples of the Time Will Tell table can be linked together by the user to create a more dynamic living environment.
