Cat n’ Pillar

Cat n' pillar — concept model

Project Description

Companionship is when you feel a sense of closeness without interfering with each other. Cat n’ pillar is a product intervention that transforms furniture such as a coffee table into a cat’s play and rest area. It is designed to be a shared coffee table that accommodates the habit and behaviour of pet cats as well as optimising the social interaction and sense of companionship between owners in a shared, co-living environment.

Focusing on interactions between owners and their cats, the design of Cat n’ pillar has flexible pillars and scratching posts for owners to customise into any shape they want. The shapes they create turn into winding tunnels for cats to play and rest in. This coffee table is then used as a tool to share experiences and emotions with an animal companion.

Bio

I approach design with a focus on people and an ability to empathise with both the people who create and the people who utilise the products I assist in bringing to life. My design practice combines design thinking, user research and prototyping to deliver a project from concept to reality.
