Project Description

I have developed a Speech Pathology Assistance Tool for use outside of the Clinic. This tool will improve the overall quality of therapy for children with paediatric stuttering by generating a reminder system and increasing motivation to complete homework exercises. Homework is an integral part of speech therapy treatment for paediatric stuttering. It is particularly important when treated with the Lidcombe Program, as treatment is conducted at home. There is a lack of tools to motivate parent and child, and when homework is neglected, the quality of therapy decreases.

Bio

Fotini is a solution-driven designer with a passion for product and graphic design. In 2019 Fotini studied abroad at the University of Technology Eindhoven, the Netherlands. There she undertook a project with supermarket chain ‘Jumbo’, designing promotional stands. This semester, in Professional Communication, Fotini designed a Toy Wheelchair Assembly Kit for children of the ‘Transitions’ foundation in Guatemala. The kit consists of wooden dowels, connector pieces for the frame, four acrylic wheels and cloth for the seat. The chair assembles easily with a press-fit design. A gender-neutral colour scheme was used to align with values of inclusion.
