Φ.1 Reel to Reel Synthesizer in use.

Project Description

The Φ.1 Reel to Reel Synthesizer is an all-in-one audio workstation that integrates analog and digital technology to create a dynamic and innovative music production tool. The Φ.1 enables composition, recording, editing, looping, sampling, and playback. The project explores the relationship between analog materiality and digital precision in music production by examining how aesthetics and trends are influenced by popular culture, skeuomorphic design and nostalgia marketing.

In designing within the post-digital era, the Φ.1 aims to deliver limitless creative possibilities and foster experimentation by merging the extensive parameters available in digital workstations with the tangible, mechanical properties of analog hardware by employing features that elicit unique human responses.
