Gelidus
by Lorraine Gacayan
Project Description
Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is a common skin condition that can be difficult to target due to the complexity of fragile skin. Hands are particularly prone to experiencing flare-ups as they are less protected whilst working, especially if users need to constantly disinfect their hands, as soaps and sanitisers are potential triggers. A patient's symptoms typically include dry, red skin susceptible to blistering, and lesions once scratched. Unfortunately, there are few products currently available that users feel comfortable wearing daily.
Gelidus is an aluminium glove coated in silver to provide cooling relief and protection for inflamed hands. The open design of the glove enables users to continue completing everyday tasks freely at their workplaces and homes. The glove is created to blend function and aesthetics in its design. It redefines how eczema care can be approached by understanding the need for users to feel comfortable in their skin again.
