Project Description

This project is about the value of using eco-friendly materials for toiletry kits in airplanes that will occupy minimal space. Plastic consumption is a serious concern in the modern world; a huge amount of single-use plastic products is produced for airplane passengers. Most current products are overly packaged with plastics and new products are unnecessarily discarded. This research explores different perspectives of cabin product packaging and developing eco-friendly mini toiletries which are biodegradable. Environmental experts note that several airlines have begun to tackle the onboard waste problem. Some airlines have eco travelling campaigns for changing their products to environmentally friendly materials. Airlines have turned their cutlery and tray to natural elements as cereal starch and sugarcane.

The design concepts are developed through considering the product’s life cycle and through sustainable material studies for reducing plastic usage. This project mainly examines the development of new eco-friendly packaging ways for aircraft to reduce plastics. This research-based project addresses current plastic packaging problems in air travel and the possibilities of changing current products to use natural materials that are biodegradable.
